L'edizione 2019 dell'Incontro Culturale Erasmus sta per iniziare: ESN Italia ti farà vivere la città di Roma attraverso gli occhi dei grandi registi e attori del cinema internazionale. La nostra narrazione prosegue con un capolavoro dei primi anni 2000, che porta la firma del regista turco di nascita e italiano d'adozione Ferzan Özpetek. Il suo "Le Fate Ignoranti", infatti, ci mostra una zona di Roma meno battuta nei tour guidati, ma ugualmente cuore pulsante di una città dai confini vastissimi. In questo film, conosciamo Antonia e suo marito Massimo, uniti da un amore forte suppur un po' routinario. Massimo muore improvvisamente, investito da una macchina, Antonia, immobilizzata dal profondo lutto, cerca di sentirsi più vicina al suo caro frugando tra i suoi effetti personali, e scoprendo così un quadro con dedica, chiamato proprio "Le Fate Ignoranti", che la mette sulle tracce di una amante di cui ovviamente la giovane donna ignorava l'esistenza. Durante questo viaggio alla riscoperta della persona che amava, Antonia ha l'occasione di conoscere la realtà parallela in cui Massimo viveva, e in particolare i luoghi e le persone che frequentava all'ombra del Gazometro, nel quartiere popolare di Ostiense: una comunità formata da ragazzi omosessuali, donne transessuali, profughi turchi e veraci meridionali. Attraverso questi incontri con realtà molto diverse dalla sua, e grazie alla mediazione del ricordo di Massimo, Antonia subisce un processo di crescita e maturazione personale, e di superamento dei pregiudizi che prima la caraterrizzavano. Özpetek, con questo suo racconto malinconico ma intenso, ci racconta una Roma aperta al confronto, e ci regala una panoramica sull'inclusività di questa città che, fin dagli albori della sua storia, è sempre stata capace di accogliere e proteggere usi, costumi, credenze e nature diverse. The 2019 edition of Incontro Culturale Erasmus is about to start: ESN Italy will help you live the city of Rome through the eyes of great international film directors and actors. Our narration continues with an early '00s masterpiece, signed by Turkish-Italian filmmaker Ferzan Özpetek. His "The Ignorant Fairies" shows us an area in Rome surely less present in official guided tours, but still the beating heart of a much vast city. In this movie, we meet Antonia and her husband Massimo, held together by a strong love for each other, even if a bit too tied to their routine. Massimo dies a sudden death, stroke by a running car. Antonia, paralyzed by the deep mourning, tries to feel closer to her late husband searching through his personal effects and finding a painting, named "The Ignorant Fairies", which leads to a mistress, whom the young woman had no idea existed. Throughout this journey to learn more about the person she still loved, Antonia has the chance to meet an alternate reality Massimo was living, and especially the places and the people he used to meet in the shade of Gazometro, in the popular neighbourhood of Ostiense: a community composed by homosexuals, trans women, Turkish refugees and veracious South-Italians. Thanks to the challenge of understanding a reality so far away from her own, and also to the mediation of her memories of Massimo, Antonia starts a deep process of personal growth, leaving behind all prejudices she once had. Özpetek, with this melancholic but intense movie, narrates us of a city open to confrontations and gifts us with an overview of Rome's inclusivity, a city that since the dawn of time, has always found within itself to host and protect different uses, costumes, beliefs and natures.
